The title says it all! Are you excited? I know I am!

The best sales people for CUSEC are the people who have previously attended the conference and are looking back to coming back.

Here is what Karen Widish that head delegate for Carleton University has to say about CUSEC:

My name is Karen Widish and I am in 4th year Software Engineering at Carleton University. This will be my third year attending CUSEC, and last year Carleton hosted CUSEC. Thanks again to everyone who came out to the first time CUSEC was held outside of Montreal. It was a stressful month, so I am glad to hear mostly good things about the event.

I am currently on my last co-op work-term before starting 4th year. I am working as an RA for the school of architecture here at Carleton. I feel CUSEC is an awesome event, and a must for any software engineering student. To us here at Carleton it is the main event our
society plans for, as we see it as a way to meet students at our own school as well as schools across Canada. Best line to get the first years involved, “you will learn more at CUSEC in 3 days than your entire 1st year”.

It will be great to be apart of CUSEC’s 5th anniversary,

I look forward to seeing you there Karen!

Yes, that was a trick question. The first two CUSEC’s were organized by ConU (Concordia), the third CUSEC was organized by Poly and ConU, the fourth edition was organized by the Carleton. The fifth? No school is responsible for it.

Concordia University’s Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science has donated $5000 to CUSEC 2006. Concordia has been a very big supporter of CUSEC since Day 1. We are happy to have Concordia on board with this year’s addition of CUSEC as well.

During our meeting with the Dean it was agreed that we would have a Wine & Cheese at Concordia’s new engineering building either the night before the first day of the conference or after the first day of the conference to introduce people to the new building.

Update: Ariane from Poly just contacted me, promising 50, making them part of our kickin’ it collection of Quebec schools! Go for it, Poly!

Are you from a school that can bring 50 in Quebec, or 20 outside of Quebec? I want to know!

</update>

The Quebec universities that have the biggest responsibility to the conference, Concordia (led by Skrud) and McGill (led by Jonathan), have respectively promised 200 and 100 attendees to January’s conference! I trust them to bring in these numbers and make the conference a big success! (more…)
